Who am I?
Hey! I’m Shanté! I am a student at Marist College studying Fine Arts and Fashion. I love everything that has to do with creativity – fine arts, music, fashion, writing and poetry. I think that artists are blessed with the ability to see. It seems so simple but it’s something many people can’t do. Sometimes our vision can seem mad and insane to others but in reality it’s quite beautiful and genius.
I am a Christian and I love the Lord. By denomination, I am Apostolic Pentecostal and I believe in spiritual gifts, being filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues as the Spirit allows us. I also believe in the oneness of God – there is one God and Jesus is His name. (Col 2:9)
God is the source of my strength. He’s the one who picks me up when I am down and He is the one who corrects me when I am wrong. As each day passes by, I realize more and more that I need God to make it through even just one day.
I’m still learning and I have many questions. Through this blog, I hope to share what I have learned, my day to day experiences and some of the questions that I have.
Who Am I?
I’m currently a 20 year old college student who is majoring in Biology. I enjoy writing, singing, and playing guitar/piano/ukulele/drums.
I was raised in a household with a Baptist father and a Pentecostal mother. I’m glad I was brought up in the Christian faith because it allowed me to grow with Christ from a young age.
I was baptized at the age of 16, after Christ showed me it was time. (You can read about it here). The day I was baptized was definitely one of the greatest days of my life. I felt so much peace and joy as I took the plunge and dedicated the rest of my life to serving my Savior.
I have a passion for helping others in any way I can. At times, I’ve been told that I am “too nice.” But I believe there are no limits when it comes to helping others. We are called to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters (John 15:13). And my goal in life is to be God’s helper: a person that can give others a glimpse into His goodness just by helping and serving.
